1. The 21st Annual Employee Appreciation Week is Being Celebrated April 21-25, 2008
Employee Appreciation Week has been scheduled for April 21-25th, 2008. Each year during Employee Appreciation Week, the University pauses to reflect and acknowledge the continuing effort and commitment shown by all members of the University community.
Employees who provided 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40+ years of continuous state service as of October 1, 2007 will receive awards. These awards are in recognition of and appreciation for their dedication and commitment to the University and the State of Connecticut. This year, over 400 employees will receive recognition awards.
The University also recognizes 117 Storrs-based employees who have achieved 25 or more years of service (in increments of five) with a Recognition Breakfast. The Recognition Breakfast has been scheduled for April 22, 2007 in the Alumni Center. Invitations to employees and their supervisors will be mailed in early March.

4. Adding Dependents to your Medical and Dental Coverage
Please remember that you have 30 days from the date of a “life event” to add a dependent to your health and dental coverages (go to http://www.hr.uconn.edu/lifechge.html for a listing of qualifying events). For example, if you wish to add a newborn child to your coverage, the change must be made within 30 days from the child’s date of birth. If you wish to add a spouse to your coverage, the change must be made within 30 days of the date of marriage.
Go to http://www.hr.uconn.edu/healthin.html for the form to add dependents and documentation requirements for adding dependents to coverage.

5. Children Covered by Employee’s Health Insurance – Age Limits
Your full-time student may be enrolled on your health insurance only until age 23. Children who are not full-time students will be canceled from coverage at age 19. A COBRA letter offering the continuation of medical insurance at the State’s group rate will be sent in your child’s name to your address on file, when the child’s eligibility ceases.
A sure way to keep your student covered is to supply a “proof of full time student status” to Human Resources Unit 5075 each semester. A minimum of twelve credits for undergraduate students is considered full time. This “proof” is readily available from the Registrar’s office at the college the student is attending.
Dental insurance age limit: All children are dropped from dental insurance at age 19, even if they are full time students. A COBRA letter offering the continuation of dental insurance at the State’s group rate will be sent in the child’s name to your address on file after the 19th birthday.
