1. Long-Term Care Insurance Open Enrollment Campaign
The State of Connecticut is now offering a Connecticut Partnership Certified Long-Term Care insurance (LTCi) benefit to add to your voluntary supplemental benefits package.
As an eligible employee of the University of Connecticut, you may now apply with only 5 Health Questions during the Long Term Care Enrollment Campaign!
Active employees, retirees, spouses* and family members are eligible to enroll in this offer. All policies are certified by the Connecticut Partnership for Long Term Care and provide asset protection under the Connecticut Partnership Plan. There is a State of Connecticut discount of 5% plus potential for combined discount of 30% when a spouse also purchases coverage. During the Open Enrollment Campaign you may apply under a 5 question simplified issue process.
The University of Connecticut Open Enrollment Campaign runs from 3/1/2008 to 5/31/2008.

2. State Group Life Insurance Increases Effective April 1, 2008
All eligible employees under the Fort Dearborn state group life insurance plan (formerly Medical Life Insurance Company) whose yearly gross compensation rate increases on or before April 1, 2008 will have an increase, if applicable, in their insurance coverage amount and payroll deduction premium. The increases in coverage and payroll deduction premiums will be in accordance with the wage/coverage schedule of life insurance:

Payroll deduction premium changes for increased life insurance coverage will be reflected in paychecks dated April 11, 2008.
3. Annual Report of Activity and Achievement for Members of the UCPEA Bargaining Unit
As indicated under Article 21.2(b) of the UCPEA collective bargaining agreement, management may require employees to provide an annual report of activity and achievement to their supervisors as a source of information for performance evaluations. The contract requires employees be given a minimum of two weeks notice for providing the requested reports. Final written reports for this evaluation year must be submitted to your supervisor by April 15, 2008 for consideration in the evaluation process. Please use this as an opportunity to share information with your supervisor about your job related activities and achievements this year.

4. Good Friday, March 21, 2008
Although classes are in session on Good Friday, March 21, 2008 and the University will be open, we encourage departments to be receptive to employees who wish to observe the holiday. Employees who wish to take the day off should handle their request like all other discretionary time off requests.
