ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF STUDENT DEVELOPMENT AND LEARNING
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of an administrator, provides leadership and
direction for student development and learning programs; with specific
responsibilities for development, planning, execution, coordination and
evaluation of all leadership and learning programs in the Department.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as advisor to the Undergraduate Student Government in setting philosophy,
establishing goals and planning programs.

Develops, plans, and implements learning and developmental opportunities
for a pluralistic, multicultural community and manage the Departments efforts
to collaborate with academic areas to promote the programs.

Develops necessary systems and procedures and sets priorities on work to
be done; maintains accurate records of all programs and prepares reports
as needed.

Supervises and trains professional, clerical and student staff in assigned
areas of responsibility; establishes work schedules and determines work
assignments for clerical and student staff.

Prepares budget recommendations for individual Student Union programs and
manages program income and expenses.

Manages specific programs and events which includes all arrangements for
space, equipment, special needs of performers as well as developing a program
budget and providing on-site supervision, problem solving and decision
making.

Develops and conducts student leadership and training workshops and seminars.

Serves as liaison between students, staff, faculty and administration.

Assists Director in overall operation of Student Union/Student Activities
department.

Administers and monitors personnel actions and related paperwork in assigned
area of responsibility and applies collective bargaining agreements.

Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Student Personnel, Counseling or related field

Four to five years experience in student activities programming

Demonstrated ability in leadership and organizational skills.

Good communication skills and decision-making ability as well as a firm
understanding of public relations and advertising

Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the public, students, faculty,
staff and external agencies.

Basic understanding of set design, lighting, and audio.

Budgeting and supervisory ability
-
Willingness to work irregular and flexible hours.
