FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of designated administrator, manages the residence
hall furnishings/equipment operations and assists in the management of
overall DRL operations.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluates effectiveness of current design and furnishings of residence
hall; initiates improvements and/or renovations based on analysis of cost
effectiveness and serviceability of changes; and presents proposals for
major changes.

Develops budget proposals for residence hall furnishings/renovations and
manages approved budget with authority to expend funds within budget limits.

Designs, approves and oversees interior renovations of residence halls
and makes design and purchasing decisions consistent with residence hall
needs and long-term cost benefits.

Evaluates policies and priorities for residence halls renovations, renovation
cycle, purchases, damage assessments and related operations; develops and
recommends policy changes as needed to meet changing conditions.

Defines, implements, maintains and modifies, as needed, a computerized
system of inventory control to meet audit requirements and to assure availability
of adequate supplies.

Manages a system of recovering costs for damages to residence hall property.

Manages various residence hall facilities (e.g. Storeroom) including related
administrative functions such as purchasing, inventory and staffing.

Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates a staff; determines work assignments
and work schedules.

Assists with developing policies and planning for residential hall operations,
including rental properties; may assume responsibilities in absence of
associate director.

Performs special projects, as requested, such as recommendations for summer
utilization of residence halls, purchase of computer hardware/software
and system for damage reduction.

May Develop, coordinate or conduct training for residence hall staff and
housekeeping supervisors in the area of maintenance, repair, cleaning,
purchasing and security operations.

May serve as liaison with other University departments who provide maintenance,
storage, purchasing.

May develop, prepare and distribute manuals, forms and procedures governing
the operation of residence halls.

May Oversee the processing of all necessary paperwork for work orders,
purchasing, billing and payment, following up to assure compliance and
resolve problems.

Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in appropriate field

Three-five years experience in and knowledge of operational aspects of
a residence hall system including maintenance, repair, purchasing and inventory
control of furnishings and equipment.

Ability to manage budgets, analyze cost/benefits and plan and design a
serviceable residence hall environment.
