INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) AUDITOR
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, performs information technology
(IT) auditing functions as well as providing advanced technical assistance in
developing IT audit programs and data extraction protocols for confidential administrative
computing systems.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans and conducts individual IT audits, in accordance with the annual OACE
audit plan to appraise and evaluate existing and proposed new system designs,
computer applications and operations for the appropriate controls.
- Analyzes and evaluates the results of IT audit fieldwork; issues draft and
final reports including making formal recommendations to correct deficiencies.
- Reviews findings and recommendations with appropriate supervisory staff
and administrative officials of the area audited to construct an appropriate
follow-up action plan to address findings.
- Monitors the progress of action plan and follows up on recommendations to
ensure changes have been implemented.
- Implements and ensures the effective operations of the internal auditing
computer system including documentation, applications, security and training;
serves as a technical resource for other OACE auditors and staff.
- Develops meaningful and relevant IT audit programs and questionnaires to
meet the needs of specific audits; conducts management analyses, feasibility
studies, etc., as requested.
- Keeps abreast of current developments in IT and maintains ongoing and improving
technical competence.
- Participates in non-IT audits, inquiries and investigations as needed.
- Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Business or related field
OR equivalent education and experience.
- professional certification such as CPA, CIA or CISA.
- Five years combined audit and IT experience with at least two years as a
professional auditor.
- Working knowledge of auditing principles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree in IT related area.
- CISA or other IT related certifications (GISP, CISM, GSAE, GSNA, etc.).
- Healthcare/university audit experience.
- Extensive knowledge of information systems security and technical experience
with complex data systems.
- Ability to regularly exercise independent judgment and initiative with regard
to complex technical and auditing functions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
