There are four easy ways to access current job openings which are updated every Friday afternoon.

The Employment Opportunities website provides a detailed description of current job openings at the University of Connecticuts Storrs and Regional Campuses.

The UConn Jobs Listserv provides a weekly update of job opportunities sent directly to your email account.  To subscribe go to:  http://www.hr.uconn.edu/LSERV.HTML.

The UConn Jobline provides a listing of Clerical, Maintenance, and Protective Services openings.  The Jobline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at (860) 486-2466.

The UConn Opportunities Bulletin can be viewed in the lobby of the Department of Human Resources located in the Brown Building on the Depot Campus at: 9 Walters Avenue, Storrs, CT.  The Department is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

NOTE: Many local libraries and job service centers provide internet access free of charge.

How do I apply for an open position?

  1. Review the job posting including the description of duties and the minimum qualifications thoroughly.  You must meet the minimum qualifications to be included in the applicant pool.

  1. Applications must be submitted by the closing date listed on the posting.

How much time do I have to apply for open positions?

            Clerical Positions - 7 days from the date the position is posted.

            Maintenance Positions - 10 days from the date the position is posted.

            Protective Services Positions - 14 days from the date the position is posted.

    NOTE:  Closing dates will be listed in the job posting.  Application must be postmarked by the close of business (5:00 p.m.) on the closing date listed in the posting.

How do I obtain an Application for Employment?

For your convenience, there are three ways to obtain an application form.

            You may print the application from the UConn Human Resources Website and complete and mail it to the University of Connecticut, Department of Human                             Resources, 9 Walters Avenue, Unit 5075, Storrs, CT 06269-5075.

You may request an application be sent to you via  the UConn Jobline.

You may visit the Department of Human Resources located in the Brown Building on the Depot Campus at: 9 Walters Avenue, Storrs, CT Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Click here for directions.

How do I complete an application?

  1. Complete all sections  of the application form and be sure to provide a complete education and employment history.  Please type or neatly print.

  1. Sign the application.

  1. Submit a cover letter and/or resume with your application (optional).
 
NOTE: If you have an active application (less than six months old) on file, it is not necessary to complete a new application unless you would like to update your information.  Your application will remain active for six months.

How do I apply for a position that requires the applicant to hold status in the class or have an active exam score?

To be eligible to apply for competitive positions, an applicant must have an active exam score or must have status or have previously held status in the class.

 

If you have held status in the class or taken and passed an exam for the advertised position:

What should I expect after I apply to an open position?

  1. The Department of Human Resources will pre-screen applications to verify minimum qualifications including active exam scores where applicable.  Human Resources will forward all qualified applicants to the hiring department.

  1. The appropriate hiring department(s) will have the opportunity to review applications of qualified applicants

  1. Hiring departments will contact you directly if they wish to schedule an interview.  If you receive a call for an interview, request a contact name and telephone number from the hiring department as well as directions to the interview location.

  1. The review of applications and the interview process may take several weeks after the closing date of the position.

  1. Once the top candidate is identified and the proper documentation is submitted by the hiring department, the official job offer is made by the Department of Human Resources.

  1. Your application will remain active for six (6) months and may be used to apply for other positions at your request.

  1. After six months, you will need to submit a new application to continue applying for open positions.
