openings at the University of Connecticuts Storrs and Regional
Campuses.
The UConn Jobs

The UConn

The UConn
Opportunities Bulletin can be viewed in the lobby of the Department of
Human Resources located in the Brown Building on the Depot Campus at: 9
Walters Avenue, Storrs, CT. The Department is open from 8:00 a.m.

How
do I apply for an open position?
- Review the job
posting including the description of duties and the minimum
qualifications thoroughly. You must meet the
minimum qualifications to be included in the applicant pool.
- Applications
must be submitted by the closing date listed on the posting.
- If you have a
current application on file:
- Call the Jobline
at (860) 486-2466 and complete the automated prompt.
- Email
jobs@uconn.edu and include your full
name (submitted on your application) and the search number(s) for which
you want to apply.

If you do not have an application on file or want to submit a new
application:
- Complete
an Application for Employment (include the search number(s)
for which you want to apply) and submit the Application to the
Department of Human Resources.
- If you are
applying for a specific open position(s), list the exact search
number(s) on the application. To apply for multiple openings,
please list all search numbers on one application.
NOTE: If you apply
for a position and do not meet the minimum qualifications, your
application will not be sent to the hiring department.
How much time do I have to apply for open
positions?
Clerical
Positions - 7 days from
the date the position is posted.
Maintenance Positions - 10 days from the date the position is
posted.
Protective Services Positions - 14 days from the date the
position is posted.
NOTE: Closing
dates will be listed in the job posting. Application must
be postmarked by the close of business (5:00 p.m.) on the closing date
listed in the posting.
How
do I obtain an Application for Employment?
For your
convenience, there are three ways to obtain an application form.

How
do I complete an application?
- Complete all
sections of the application form and be sure to provide a
complete education and employment history. Please type or neatly
print.
- Submit a cover
letter and/or resume with your application (optional).
NOTE: If you have
an active application (less than six months old) on file, it is
not necessary to complete a new application unless you would like to
update your information. Your application will remain active for
six months.
How do I apply for a position that
requires the applicant to hold status in the class or have an active
exam score?
To be
eligible to apply for competitive positions, an applicant must have an
active exam score or must have status or have previously held status in
the class.
If you have
held status in the class or taken and passed an exam for the advertised
position:
- Human
Resources will verify exam scores for all applicants. Only
applicants that have held status in the class or those with active exam
scores will be referred to the hiring department.
If you do not
have an active exam score (and do not have status in the class) you
will not be eligible to apply. For

- State of
Connecticut examinations are administered through the Department of
Administrative Services State Recruiting and Testing Center, 165 Capitol Avenue, Room 110, Hartford.
- The
minimum qualifications for admittance into an examination are detailed
on the examination announcement. You must meet all minimum
qualifications by the closing date specified on the announcement.
How
do I submit an Application for Employment?
- Mail a
completed and signed application to the Department of Human Resources.
- Hand deliver a
completed and signed application off at the Department of
Human Resources between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday.

What
should I expect after I apply to an open position?
- The Department
of Human Resources will pre-screen applications to verify minimum
qualifications including active exam scores where applicable.
Human Resources will forward all qualified applicants to the hiring
department.
- The
appropriate hiring department(s) will have the opportunity to review
applications of qualified applicants
- Hiring
departments will contact you directly if they wish to schedule an
interview. If you receive a call for an interview, request a
contact name and telephone number from the hiring department as
well as directions to the interview location.
- The review of
applications and the interview process may take several weeks after the
closing date of the position.
- Once the top
candidate is identified and the proper documentation is submitted by
the hiring department, the official job offer is made by the Department
of Human Resources.
- Your
application will remain active for six (6) months and may be
used to apply for other positions at your request.
- After six
months, you will need to submit a new application to continue applying
for open positions.
