University Hours of Business

Consistent with the expectations of the Governor and in recognition of our desire to provide enhanced and consistent services throughout the University community, I am writing to verify that the University's hours of business for the public are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Departmental offices should be open and staffed for regular business during those hours. Department heads and directors may need to adjust staff work schedules to meet this business requirement.

Significant progress has already been made in this regard as a result of the 15-minute-per-day increase in many of the classified units. This process will be completed next year as the final 15-minute increment is added.

If further adjustments are necessary, depending on the collective bargaining unit and the arrangements made at the time of hire, employees may either be assigned or requested to alter their work hours. Note that collective bargaining agreements provide for appropriate advance notice to employees (generally two weeks) when their work schedule is to be changed.
