
Jury Duty Notification for AAUP Staff

The following procedures will guide faculty and other AAUP staff who are called to jury duty:
- Staff member provides a written notification of the jury duty dates to the department head with a copy to the Payroll Department Unit 2111.
- Payments from the court for transportation and/or mileage are retained by the employee.
- Payments from the court for hours which do not fall within the term of one's appointment are retained by the faculty member.
- Payments from the court for hours which fall within the term of one's appointment are not retained by the employee, but signed over to the University.
- The check for jury duty, endorsed to the University, along with a notice from the court showing the days attended, should be forwarded to the Payroll Department.
Note that these procedures are required administratively because AAUP employees are not required to file the blue Leave Record with the Payroll department.
